For those of us who struggle with a request to remain silent at such times, I
offer an experience I had with a dear friend who had the same request.  I
argued about the need to acknowledge the event in some capacity or I just
wouldn't feel right.  He simply said "You are thinking about your feelings,
not mine."   Ahhhhhh - light dawns on Marblehead.
