I installed the Tessilmare rub rail system on my boat. Picture attached. You
will see slight bulges in the rail where the plastic track spread from the
screws. If I were to do it again I would pay careful attention to not
seating the screws beyond the minimum that is necessary. They don't mention
this issue in the installation instructions and so I didn't realize the
problem I was creating until it was too late 
The rail gives very good protection. Installation needs to be done on a hot
day so the vinyl is soft and pliable. I was able to do it alone but it was a
struggle.

I had the plant in Edenton replace my rub rail several years ago.  Don't
recall the exact cost, but it was not that expensive.  Might give them a
call to see how much they would charge you for the rub rail.  Have not seen
PVC used as a rub rail.
