Chris G:  I think you may have asked about installing an anchor roller on the
bow.  Frank Tugwell installed one that allowed the anchor and rhode to
deploy from the anchor shelf without inter fearing with the forward stay and
roller furling.  Except for becoming a ramming device I think this is a
clever idea.  I will try to insert an image for reference.
