As it happens, my boat is on its trailer in my driveway with the mast up, so it was easy to check, but perhaps not so easy to describe.  

Standing behind the mast looking forward into the mast, the sail goes to the left (port), while the furling line goes to the right (starboard).  To state this another way, if you were looking down on the furling assembly, pulling the sail out will turn the assembly counter-clockwise, while pulling on on the furling line will turn the assembly clockwise.

I hope this lets you get your boat put back together correctly.  It’s time to get these boats in the water!
