I agree with Dave, brakes are nice if you are doing long-distance hauling
and are not using a heavier vehicle to haul.

 I've done quite a few hauls for Stan and others and the majority have been
with brakeless trailers. Admittedly, I do have a heavier truck (F250 Super
Duty) that helps with the braking. By far the most frequent problems have
been to do with the trailer bearings and axles rusting up, and having the
all braking paraphernalia and braking hubs exacerbates this.

 I believe the regulations are if your trailer has a Brake Actuator then
you must have brakes that work, if not then you're OK.
