Thanks for the push to McMaster Carr. That site will be useful In a couple areas. I was particularly impressed by the detailed information on material specifications and uses. I will order a 12x12 sheet of a more appropriate product to make that donut piece if I can't find the actual piece. (Doubtful). I have starboard that would work, but another product looks better.
 Someone on the list said they have gasket material for the trunk for sale also. We will be pulling the trunk cap off again when we eventually sail her to my lift. We may want to replace it, although it looked fine when we opened it up to take the broken centerboard out.
 Lastly I will attach another picture of a mystery piece I just found taped the the boom. It looks like something to connect a second line to a main line or ???

Your picture did come through, and that donut piece does definitely look chewed up.  I'm surprised to hear that yours is made of soft material, since that is pretty clearly not an appropriate choice.

You would certainly want to use some variety of high density plastic material to create a replacement.  'Starboard' would one choice.  I believe the general name for this class of material is 'high density polyethylene' or HDPE.  I usually shop for items like this at the McMaster-Carr website.  If Starboard doesn't come in the exact thickness you need, there may be other similar materials that do.  (And consider that precise thickness may not be a critical dimension here.)
