I was concerned about this and called Triad. They weren’t that helpful, and I believe that they were confused about my concern and said to just disconnect it, and reconnect it. So, I don’t know about fluid loss or air introduction as I’ve never had to use the extension (yet).

That said I do know that the surge breaks work well. I can feel them doing their job when needing to break more aggressively due to an unexpected hazard, etc.
