There is no halyard in the mast. The sail is attached to the furling tube by sheet metal screws. The photo shows the main attached to the furling tube above the drum. It is attached at the top in the same fashion. There is a "donut" at the top that is a bearing as is the frum at the bottom that permits the smooth rotation of the furling system. There are no sheeves in the mast because there are no halyards.
