I, too, always put a tie around the genoa (every time we return). I also
un-shackle the main from the outhaul car, wrap the exposed clew around the
mast, and put a couple of ties around it if I'm going to be away for more
than a day or if high wind conditions are expected. It only takes a minute
... and as a side benefit reduces windage.
