Hi Mike,
I installed a set of retaining bars, and they've worked well so far. Just some PVC boards and SS screws.  The PVC is flexible enough to take the curve of the cockpit floor.  I ended up putting a quick release pin through each end to keep the bar in place. Here's a few pictures:
