Well, keep a good lookout. I don’t know about Lake Waccamaw itself, but I’ve seen some mighty big snakes on the Waccamaw River while canoeing. A few years ago one fell from a tree into a canoe as we were putting in just below the lake, causing a bit of commotion. I know, most are just Northern Water Snakes, but they look a lot like Cottonmouths unless you get closer than you should to make a diagnosis.
