I’ve posted before about a setup for deploying and retrieving an anchor from the cockpit. My interest in doing this was because there have been a couple of situations where my motor died or wouldn’t start and I really quickly needed to deploy my anchor to keep from drifting into shore or into other boats. I’ve been using a setup with my anchor hanging from my stern pulpit with rode and retrieval lines running to the bow. I like what the guy in the below video has done. I’ll be moving my anchor back to the bow pulpit. Now I will just need one thin line from the cockpit running along the side of the cabin to the anchor release to deploy my anchor. When I’m ready to pull in my anchor I’ll take a retrieval line out of storage, attach it to my rode below the bow eye, return to the cockpit and pull the anchor in. I’m fortunate in not needing a long anchor rode...my lake is only about 12’ deep at its deepest. I just ordered the type anchor hanger shown in the video from Defender....about $60 with shipping. I’ll report back on how it works for me.
