Installing a bulkhead compass

We have always had bulkhead mounted compasses on all (3) of our Rhodes. I’m
not saying that is the best route to go for everyone, but it worked very
well for the thousands of miles we cruised. I would swing the compass and
adjust or make up a card with variation if required. Ivy using  the inavix/
navionics on our iPad we could get the precise heading over a distance and
note it on the compass and turn off the iPad to save power and steered by
the compass on long crossings to the Bahamas or the Sea of Cortez. There is
something “right” about steering by a compass plus it looks very nautical
on the bulkhead. Installation was a breeze with the Ritchie Sr2.
