Different strokes… Personally, I never ’slowly lower’ my anchor. I do slowly let out the rode after the anchor is on the bottom, to avoid creating a pile of rode on top of the anchor. I can’t quite figure out how or why one sits in or on the bow pulpit. Having spent 4 years in the Coast Guard (albeit almost 50 years ago), I can say that it was my experience that coasties are just people like everyone else, and there are probably a few marionettes among them. It’s not really their job to keep fools off the water. Good thing too, since that would destroy the pleasure boating industry. —PeterSee the original archive post
