Different strokes…

Personally, I never ’slowly lower’ my anchor.  I do slowly let out the rode after the anchor is on the bottom, to avoid creating a pile of rode on top of the anchor.

I can’t quite figure out how or why one sits in or on the bow pulpit.

Having spent 4 years in the Coast Guard (albeit almost 50 years ago), I can say that it was my experience that coasties are just people like everyone else, and there are probably a few marionettes among them.  It’s not really their job to keep fools off the water.  Good thing too, since that would destroy the pleasure boating industry.
