Actually, I have the Mercury 8 HP, only 90-something lbs.

Yes, I also have 4 double blocks.  Obviously there’s some friction in the blocks themselves, plus the line turning on the stainless tube.  Also some friction in the aluminum slides.

I’ve tried some alternative line routes that made the situation worse, but none that have improved it noticeably.
