Spring Lines

We have a confusion of terms here.

A *spring line* is used to stop a boat as it comes into the dock. It may
also be used to dampen motion of the boat in a slip exposed to excess wind
and waves. Since there needs to be extra spring in a spring line, usually
nylon stranded anchor rode is used. But it will stretch and deteriorate in
the sun over the season.

A *dock line*, which I think we are talking about here, is used to keep a
boat tied up to the dock. Since you want it easy to handle, looking good
and not having to be adjusted in length during the season, uv resistant
nylon braid or polyester sheeted nylon braid is best to use.
