Brian, welcome to the list.  I didn't realize that 76' is such a popular
vintage among this group until you posted your intro note.  You couldn't ask
for more knowledgeable fellow 76' R22 owners.

Roger, you mentioned that newer boats are considerably heavier.  Is that
mainly due to thicker fiberglass?
