Jesse: To my eye it looks like an easy fix. First of all only hand tighten your rig. No tension measurements. Overtightening rigs is always a bad idea and causes equipment failure. The tangs on the back of the boom seem to be the problem. Use the bent one for the topping lift and find a tiny shackle and get rid of the large carabiner. Also i would only use 1/4” line (or even paracord) for a topping lift. You may need to bend that tang a little more. Also make sure the bolt is tight in the end of the boom with just enough space to let the tangs swivel. Tolerances on this part of the rig are very tight and small adjustments should make the boom swing without restriction. Bob (palatka)See the original archive post
