I am retrofitting LaRousette, a non General Boats R22 build, with a used R22 Traveller . The backstays currently don't support the main sheet block assembly. That assembly ties in to the backstay connectors and consists of the main sheet block rolling along a stainless wire. The tubular unit I hope to install has tube end fittings which terminate in a ring. From photos I glean that typical Traveller tube has a notch cut out being supported by a crimped ferrule on each backstay. If that's the right way, how is chafing of the backstay strands eliminated. This is sharp metal againt stainless strands. Would love some list advice on this one please.See the original archive post
