I’m pretty sure Bill is asking about the outer tips of the spreaders and their connections to the upper shrouds. I’ve never looked at mine closely, but I’m sure the shrouds do not slip at the tips of the spreaders under normal loads. This is the way the boat came to me from the factory, so I’d guess that General Boats thinks this is the way it should be. On the other hand, I’ve got one turnbuckle (port aft lower shroud) that turns the opposite way from all the others. This is way the boat came to me from the factory, but I’d guess that General Boats doesn’t think that this is the way it should be. As a personal preference, I prefer the non-slipping option.
